As some of you already know, I will be starting a new job (at my present company) on July 23. I will be the transportation coordinator, which is a fancy way of saying I will be responsible for scheduling various residents' appointments (testing, eye doctor, etc.), and driving them to and from these appointments. The job is full-time, Monday through Friday, which happily gives me every weekend off for the first time in years. Of course, that also means giving up 40 hours a week with Kathryn, which is pretty much breaking my heart.
Kathryn is very excited about the change. Not the never seeing me part, of course, but the idea of spending extra time with Grammy & Aunt Betsy and going to "school" two days a week. She's already picked out a Tinkerbell lunch box and equally girly thermos for the occasion. And she wants to do more shopping. (This is unusual because Kathryn, like me, hates shopping.) Here's her official first day supply list:
--2 complete changes of clothing, including underwear, socks, and shoes (more if in the potty-training process)
--Nap blanket & pillow
--A paint shirt or oversized t-shirt for art time
--Lunch with an ice pack
--Sunscreen
--Family photos for the classroom photo board
--Diapers & wipes
Shoes also need to be closed-toe, which means I have to add that to the shopping list, because Kathryn generally wears sandals every day.
Just to show you how much Kathryn is going to love this place, in her first four weeks there, she will experience: a library lady visit, 3 Popsicle days, surfin' safari and beach dress up days, and visits from Milrow characters. Every day has it's own theme.

I didn't know that you got a new job! That is awesome...no weekends! How nice!
Do they know you are pregnant yet? How will that effect the new position?
I can't believe our sweet Kathryn is going to school! She better not pick up any boyfriends. You'll do fine, mommy.
it will be hard, but also might be nice for a minute or two for just some "ahhh" time. good luck.
Thanks! I start a week from tomorrow and I'm planning to tell them I'm pregnant sometime during that first week. Hopefully it'll go okay...
hey - have a great first day today :)
